Wanna’ be a Techuk8r?
Most of the following techuk8rs, I found using twitter. First, is a link to their twitter page and then, I’ll try to provide a blog or site link.
I’ll add more to this list as I find them. What I’m mainly looking for, is teachers that IMPLEMENT technology in the classroom and provide: at least a basic tutorial for newbies, OR the technology used can be easily implemented by the youngest ‘techuk8r’ (by youngest, I don’t mean in age).
Here’s some other ‘Techuk8rZ’ to follow-
TomBarrett which has a blog titled EDTE.CH which is great for lesson plans that implement the Web as well as the Wii- I’m a big advocate for gaming- especially boys- it brings out the natural ‘competitiveness’ in them, driving them to win.
SimonHaughton is an ICT (information communication& technology) manager in a primary school- I’ve bookmarked MANY of his tweets. He’s got some great ideas for teaching children how to program (make games, lol).
Keith Schoch he provides professional development for several different state organizations. I know of him through tweets and retweets of some of his posts. He has a blog titled Teache with Picture Books and he seems to know just about all the literary ‘freebies’ online. He may not be ‘overtly’ techie, but this guy knows his stuff!
Shannon Miller Here’s her bio on twitter: Mom, Wife, Teacher Librarian & Technology Coordinator at 1:1 school, who loves learning, teaching, creating, sharing, technology, Web 2.0, change, and NOISE. Van Meter Library Voice and Van Meter Elementary Library Voice- visit both of these blogs- she makes me happy and excited about edutech because she is part of an amazing team. See if you can catch the vibe from her.
TeacherNZ shares his ideas on his blog- What Now? What Next? So What?. I particularly like this video-post Getting Over It which is wonderful- techuk8rs need to watch it- he even addresses using the positives of using twitter in the classroow! Another one of my favorites is Pencils and Crayons to be Banned in Schools- I suggest you make a pdf of this post and leave it in all sorts of places, to be read by those unaccepting of technology.
Kevin Cummins runs ‘A Cool Site for Nerdy Teachers’ called EDGALAXY. Anything tech, school or in-between, he’s got something to say. The thing I like best is his attitude on gaming to learn.
Hmmm… see a pattern?
To be continued………
