Treasures Reading Resources
Some Great Links
I’m a big fan of repeating linx. I do that- ESPECIALLY when they’re great. So bear with me, if some of these are repeats. They’re good GREAT.
This is an eclectic list and is NOT in any order. =o) You’ll find an online tool in the middle of what seems to be reading links.
There’s even a little ‘tutorial’ at the end.
In other, words, this is a potluck of linx. Take what you can use, revisit in a few months- I’ll bet you find something new- AGAIN!
I know this set of links will help some of you. Won’t you leave a comment & tell me what you think? (keep it rated PG, please)
By the way- Read this WARNING & take heed:
KEEP YOUR JOB & YOUR KIDS SAFE!
ALWAYS be sure to test ANY links on the Web before showing/linking to them for your class!
Also, be sure to check ALL links on your website!
REMEMBER- the INTERNET is FICKLE, and subject to boot ANY site off- and PEOPLE are NUTS and liable to do ANYTHING to ANY website!
This was on my edu.glogster.com account-

A principal that is a regular contributor to the Dr.Oz Show? This man is VERY inspiring! here’s his site. He’s known as Principal EL. His name is Salome Thomas-EL. I am lucky enough to follow his ‘tweets’ on twitter- and received a ‘tweet’ this morning- in which he sent a link to the press release for his newest book, The Immortality of Influence.
His mantra is “Every child need someone to be crazy about them”. That’s a LOADED statement. Does it make you tear up? What pictures are going through your head- after reading that sentence, his mantra? My interest in piqued. It’s a sure bet, that I’ll be finding this book!

Need a file from a site (like a game/interactive), but can’t download it? This is especially handy if you have some favorite material on a site that’s going offline.
Copy the address of the page with the game/interactive (or whatever) on it. Paste the address here- http://file2hd.com/. Check mark the box to agree to the terms. (I usually don’t filter- I just leave it ‘as is’). Click ‘Get Files’.
What’ll happen, is a list of files will appear at the bottom the file2hd page. If it’s a flash(or shockwave) game/video- it’ll either be a fla, swf or flv. Right-click on the file and choose SAVE- Then save to your favorite place.
DO NOT ‘grab’ these files and share them as your own creativity. MOST authors DO NOT mind if you use ONLY in your classroom (I’m speaking to the 12 that I have contacted myself). Of course, you should have some type of reference about WHO made the particular resource.
I suggest that you contact the author and make sure that you can use the file in your classroom. Pay attention to the copyright. Some authors may already have posted permission. Check to see if there’s a CreativeCommons license. Check here for wikipedia’s entry on CreativeCommons licenses.

It’s never a bad thing to repeat links. The more times a person put great information out there, the more likely people will find it. It’s tough to sort through all of the internet to find helpful links. Thanks for taking the time to put these together.
